Happy Martyr

New video this weekend!

Did you see Alex's post on the Happy Martyr facebook page earlier?  Alex says that they'll be releasing a new video this weekend.  THIS WEEKEND!  It can only be the video for the upcoming single to accompany the album release, and it's still a mystery which song they will choose.

But whatever song it is, we get a brand new 3ish to 4ish minute high quality film of Alex and Boz, which gives me something to celebrate!

New song and tour announcement!

It has been a very eventful week if you're a Happy Martyr fan.  To recap:

First, Alex posted "This Small Town" for a listen, a teaser track from the album due out in January. 

Then, just a few days later Happy Martyr announced a six date tour in England in support of the new album, scheduled for the second half of January.  Happy Martyr hasn't had a show since back in October, so this is great news.  Tour dates and show information are in the upper left column on your screen, and in the post below.

Tour!

Not just one show, but SIX!!!  The last two weeks of January 2012 are packed with Happy Martyr shows around England.  Come out for a great show as the boys tour to support the release of the new album!

This Small Town

It's here!!!  The new song released as a teaser in advance of the new album which will be released January 2012.

This Small Town

As always, the lyrics are a standout.  My favourite line right now is "Ladies and gentlemen, form an orderly queue/ I might just be the right man for you." (said, I'm sure, with resigned sarcasm)  On this track I especially like the gentle, clean guitar that Boz puts down.  And there's a new element - the track also has a keyboard!  If anyone has video of this track live please send it as I'd love to hear how it translates.

New Music Soon?

Remember last week Happy Martyr said there would be new music coming this month?  The teaser from the new album?  Something tells me this weekend might be a promising weekend...

Happy about Happy Martyr

One one side we've got Alex Lusty - famed and amazingly talented rapper and lyricist.  He was the backbone of Acarine, the best Hoolie rap group EVER, and was also responisble for Frigid Vinegar (remember Dogmonaut 2000?).  He's currently revolutionising punk with Who Shot Who?

On the other side we've got legendary guitarist Boz Boorer, Polecat extraordinaire and Morrissey's guitarist and right-hand man.  He's written gems like "Jack the Ripper" and is regularly asked to play with groups like Adam Ant and Orange Juice.  Not only that, he produces!

And we're lucky enough to get them both with Happy Martyr.  Sometimes life is good!

Teaser....

Alex said that the new music this month would be a teaser from the upcoming album.  I've been contemplating what it might be. 

Maybe it will be a new single?  And if it's a new single, will it come with a video? (please, please, please!)

Or will they release another demo?  There's already four, so this seems a little less likely, but I'd love the chance to hear more of what's going to be on the album.

I'll just keep waiting a little impatiently to see...(ok, not patiently at all!)
